49 years of age
Adrian has two distinct appearances; how he looks from afar, and how he looks up close. From a distance he looks old, with hair already gone white, and an unnatural thinness brought about from poor health. People even go so far as to imagine him with wrinkles. Up close he looks positively youthful; his hair is a radiant white that couldn't have been created by aging, his thinness is caused by lean a subtle muscles, and his eyes show a mind still at it's peak.
He is about 6'1" and 180lbs... not sure how that translates into metric for you Canadians.
Currently employed as the Captain of the King's Guard, Adrian has managed to move from being a weak member barely attached to the royal family; from a family looked down upon for breeding with elves, to perhaps the most powerful political figure in Glendenvale. He is the hand picked successor to the prior Captain of the Guard, and every Guard that hasn't been hand picked by Adrian, had been hand picked by his mentor. The Guards were not only taught how to defend the King to the death, but also certain political ideals that the King was not allowed to cross. Those Guards who had been deemed trustworthy and kept employed, were also taught how to make it look like the king had been assassinated. Everything from making sure to injure themselves, to preparing the body of an assassin who 'killed himself'. This sort of training was done so that if the Captain, whom the Guards looked upon as a father, advised the King to change his official decision, the king did it. That or the King changed.
Adrian had entered the Guard while still a boy, and quickly reached adulthood within it. It has left him with a mostly serious personality, but for the sake of appearances he is able to switch to a jovial one in a flash. This ability to change personalities is something he finds useful when 'advising' the King.
Adrian's love life, or lack thereof is surprisingly interesting. His mother searched through all the Glendenvale court without being able to find him a wife. He was rather embarrassed by her search, as she didn't seem to be aware of the importance of the level of a noble. After that his mother went to stay with a cousin of her father's in Silvanus. Soon rumors reached Adrian's ears of his mother asking the queen of elves. He didn't believe them however, he thought she would at least be there a year until she asked her. She has currently been there 15 years.
Adrian is an accomplished swordsman and archer, he uses those skill little nowadays, as his main job is administration. He also is a skilled speaker, and knows how to shape his words to sound menacing when on paper they would seem kind, as well as get across a message without once mentioning the subject.
Most of Adrian's early life was spent hardening his heart so he could brush off the racism he received from other members of the court for not being of a pure strain of blood. The first time he ever felt like he belong was when he joined the Guard, and because of this he soon became fiercely loyal to the organization. The captain he served under took notice of the brilliant, although physically unremarkable boy. He used the blind loyalty to shape Adrian's political mind into a copy of his own, and set about having the mixed blood youth replace him.
Adrian, although from a family with an incredibly high success rate when it comes to breeding with elves, did not escape the physical setbacks of being mixed. Like clockwork every 8 months he falls seriously ill, with a fever and slight dementia. Another side effect of his condition is the fact that he could use magic if he was full blood either way, but as it is his body's energy is set to keeping him alive. The end result of this is he serves as a beacon for anyone who can sense magic, and can never hide from them.
