Getting Things Moving -- An Event?

Not before we get all of our character profiles written and moved, but I was thinking that perhaps an event (or multiple events, considering the circumstances) would be in order to get the world rotating once again. Thoughts? Ideas?

Remember that we're at war, so there won't be any "parties" that include both Vampires and Elves, or other such nonsense. I mean, we can have balls for some races, or we could even start things off with a bang and have one force attacking another.

Humongous battle sounds cool. How 'bout squad of all female assassins ambush envoys passing messages from Cimmerii to Noctivagus? Starring Izcadella and a host of NPC's played by myself or anyone who wants to come? And then the envoys could be played by someone else, or a demon/vampire who isn't involved in politics could be traveling with them just for kicks?

.. Why all female?

Open the doors up for more people to join in, and then it might be worth considering, all actual facts about Cimmerii/Noctivagus relations aside. This is to start getting the wheels of the new world turning entirely, which is sort of why I dislike the idea becaaauusee..

We don't all play assassins, we don't all play females, and I'm sure more people would like to be involved rather than just under "NPC" status.

Well first. I think we should have a big introductory thread which can combine all our characters and give us a chance to hint at/recap what they've been doing for the past eighteen years, and this can easily be done race by race or in two parts - the Ardentian faction and the Allied faction. For example, we might concoct, in turn, the image of Empress Xanthe holding Court or Council or addressing the mass of her people with the Phoenix Queen in attendance, prior to a meeting between they and their advisors or something of a sort. Those demons and vampires who have been off pulling stunts involved with each other can make a brief appearance or a few posts' introduction, interacting with each other in a way that mentions in passing what they've been doing - like, in the case of Rorek and Elisabeth, they may be subtly making their return to Noctivagus and taking stock of the situation while conversing about the changes and the adaptations that will have to be made. Part two, King Fonfala may be discussing things with General Weatherbane and the Captain of the King's Guard might get into a spat with him or the Council of Thirteen involving Iz, and they might close the gates of Rokh Tzedsek in preparation for an upcoming conflict while the other elves prepare for their dutes. Or maybe there was a skirmish at the Divine graveyard and their hunting Ardentians through the Emaldorine Waste.

And meanwhile, gelatinous blobs will assimilate NPC characters! =D

But anyway. An intro thread with a broad, perhaps not entirely life-threatening plotline might be nice.

That coouuuld work. I'm rather fond of at least having one such introductory thread including life-threatening stuff though. Just because the whole feel of everything is supposed to be something along the lines of insanity.

.. But of course, I'm sure I could always do that with Xanthe so either way. x3

My only complaint is you're talking a few posts for each person in simple introduction, and I was thinking actual threads that would hopefully get people into whatever it is they're doing.

You know, I once mentioned - and repeated in the new description for the Filet de Meurtre - that elves used the insanely dangerous thing to get to otherwise inaccessible areas of Dustanova. It was also formally mentioned that tunnels had been rediscovered eighteen years ago leading between Noctivagus and Silvanus - though those might've been taken care of. I'm typing as I write buuut what if we said some human or elfin territory had been overtaken by Ardentian forces and some sort of noble from either Cimmerii or Noctivagus - since last I checked, those are pretty available - decided to set the stage for a bolstering show in which they execute war prisoners or some such thing? Perhaps they caught Jashin, who was a tick to the Ombra way back when, and he's on the list and getting killed in good fun for the entertainment of the soldiers, just to perk them up a bit, and they're having a rowdy time when - using some unforeseen way - the human assassins clamber amiably up against the masses and start killing a few captains, are caught, and then - also through the unforseen way - the Allied forces make a show of ambushing them. Though it'd probably be a last minute, thrown-together escapade and everyone important would get out all right, but the leaders of the party get some brief amusement out of watching each other bite the enemy in the ass and territory is reclaimed or conflict breaks out...

And then, er. Everyone goes to the Green Tankard for a beer? xDD

And we can pick somewhere like Meyrow or Rendenbird might've switched over again, or maybe they even had the audacity to try and tackle the Night Court or the Dihurt Mines and because they initiated combat on Friday the Thirteenth the superstitious men-folk bailed and came back later to defend themselves. Anyway. Somewhere general so we can have people, uhm, 'watching from a distance' or coming up in the aftermath so they can be involved in the roleplay, but not really involved in the roleplay's plot if their characters aren't suited to it.

The Night Court I think would be silly, just because I have this feeling that Baron Syrus is on the "last-to-kill" list like a massive end boss to a video game. You just don't try until you're strong enough – farm more potions!

But of course! And he's the type to send Xanthe a Christmas Hog just for cheek to remind her he's at the end of the show down. x) So I suppose we'll have to pick a location! Annnd, I know for sure who'll I'll be sending, and Iz will be able to play in the opening parts, too. =D

So everyone can be happy in the end. x)

I suppose there isn't much way to say who's actually going to be happy with it all though, since we have players on both sides. The outcome could really be something spectacularly shitty for Silvanus/Glendenvale. Just so we don't have anyone thinking that we're going to throw it all to the "good guys".

Well of course not. I meant more like, the Allies are already having a screwed-over time so having to withdraw wouldn't be pissing anymore on their pancakes. Buuuut I imagine that victorious Ardentian torture-fests intruded upon by gallivanting imbeciles would make the demons and vampires cranky. (:
